How to Stop Your Canva Content from Being Labeled as AI Content
Uploaded a product photo to Instagram or LinkedIn and saw a "Made with AI" tag? That's just Canva's Background Remover at work. Here’s how to avoid that tag quickly.
The Hidden Tag That’s Messing with Your Reach
Using Canva's BG Remover is cool because it isolates your subject, but it also adds a digital watermark. Social media platforms check for this code and can mark your post as AI-generated, even if it’s just a regular photo. This can hurt your credibility and limit your reach as a creator or small business.
You don’t need to settle for messy graphics. Check out these simple tricks:
iPhone & iPad
Apple makes it surprisingly easy to separate a subject from its background:
Open your photo in the Photos app.
Press and hold the person or object you want to keep.
Tap Copy or Share.
Use the cutout in another app or save it as a transparent image when supported.
Mac
On a Mac, you can use Apple's built-in photo tools to separate a subject from its background when the feature is available for your version of macOS.
PC
GIMP is free and works on both PC and Mac. You can easily remove backgrounds and save your image as a transparent PNG. Then upload it to Canva for your design.
Quick tip: For simple images with solid colors, GIMP’s Fuzzy Select Tool works great. For trickier edges like hair or fur, use a more precise selection tool for a cleaner result.
Once you have your transparent PNG, upload it to Canva and use it in your design.
Other Options
Take a Screenshot: Zoom in on your design and take a screenshot to avoid AI detectors.
Strip the Metadata: Use a free online tool to remove EXIF and C2PA data from your Canva export before posting.
Use Cutout Sites: Use Remove.bg or PhotoRoom to cut out images without the tracking code and import their PNGs into Canva.
